Lucas Ibbotson - MY Bronze Arts Award Journey
Hi my name is Lucas Ibbotson and I have been working on completing my bronze Arts Award at We are Noise as part of my year 11 options. As part of my journey I have created this blog to show all of my work, I hope you enjoy it. Lucas
Video 1 - My Interest in the Arts
Blog 1
In this video I took part in an interview to discuss my journey through music as a young person, right from when I first became interested in music, to the present day - and why I write the lyrics and perform the songs that I do. I wanted this to be a mini bio of my musical life so far, I hope that you enjoy it. Lucas.
Part A - Explore the arts as a participant.

Blog 2
When I first started at We are Noise we discussed what Arts activity I would be best at, and I decided to focus on how to become a singer/songwriter and lyricist. After this I created my Arts Award Plan, which I designed to show my journey in learning to become a recording artist.

This week I have uploaded a lot of my pictures at We are Noise to my website, it’s been really amazing to see how much work I have taken part in this term. Sometimes when I tell people about it, it’s hard to put in words all the different things that I do in the studio, so it’s great to have pictures to show all my friends and family. It’s also been a great way to show my teachers how well I am getting on, and my confidence is growing each week. I will keep uploading as many pictures as I can to my website as it’s really easy. Lucas.

So in a lot of the pictures above you can see work from every session I have taken part in at We are Noise. The pictures show how I wrote lyrics and songs ideas, recorded in the studio, and created my album covers and social media pages. I was really happy with how everything went each week, and I feel proud that I have completed all of this work. Lucas

The picture above shows my first album cover that I created for my Arts Award Bronze. I have called the album “Passionate” because of my love for music and helping others. We did a photoshoot for it and I am really pleased the final look and edited the cover in Canva. This was challenging at first because I have never done anything like this before, and I was not very confident to be on camera - plus I had never really used Canva. My tutors at We are Noise showed me how to do everything and explained it really well to me. In the future I would like to design more covers for my singles, but also for my concerts.

This is my Soundcloud Homepage, showing my first recorded song “Secrets”. You can see the artwork I created for the song itself and the banner - this was also done in Canva. Each week I have been using Canva more and more, and I am feeling a lot more confident to try new ideas, and be more myself. I really enjoyed uploading my first song to Soundcloud, and getting feedback from my friends, they have been really kind with comments, saying that I am improving a lot. Some of them said they think my songwriting is getting a lot better too.

This is a ticket that I had to use to get entry to Michaels concert. It was designed by my classmates on Canva, and I think they did a really good job with it.

Meeting Michael has been such a great experience for me as he has shown me that hard work pays off. Michael told me that it was really important to be myself and not to copy anyone, which is really good advice because sometimes I feel like it’s easier to be like other people than myself. He listened to some of my music after the show and he really liked it which gave me even more confidence. This part of the project has shown me that even I can create a little concert, or maybe start going to some local open mic nights and letting new people hear my music for the first time. I am now sharing my blogs on my snapchat and Facebook and have been getting good comments from my friends. It doesn’t all have to be about music, sometimes it can just be about inspiring others to try new things. If I can do it, then so can they. Lucas.
Part C : Music Inspiration - Jamie Miller
Jamie Miller Article - Buzz Magazine, April 22.
Blog 8
In this section of my Arts Award journey, I have chosen to research Jamie Miller as my musical arts inspiration. During my initial research I decided that it would be interesting to put it all together in a magazine style article. The main reason for this was I felt it would be a different way for other young people to learn about an artist, rather than a Tik-Tok style video. After my research I took part in an interview to discuss why I chose Jamie Miller and how his work inspires me to create my own.

I have enjoyed completing this section so much as I see a lot of my journey is similar to Jamie’s. I have never really thought about researching my favourite singers before, because I am so use to just seeing them on a video and then thats it. Researching them has kind of forced me to look at all the different things that they have done to make it, and it has helped me to compare it to me so that I know I am making good decisions too. I would say this is a really important section for a lot of other people who want to become artists as well, so they can become inspired, and maybe it will show them ways to improve or get more ideas. Lucas.

Blog 10
Wow, so this week I finally finished my Skill share, and this has been the part I have been really nervous about. The main reason is because I did not feel that I had the confidence to show a teacher a skill, as I thought they would already know. Now that I have completed it and spoke with Pete, I have kind of realised that its not about if they already know it, its about giving me more confidence to show others in the future, which is a cool idea actually. I think this is going to help me a lot more at college to work with other people, and have the confidence to give my opinion. LUCAS.
This is the final section of my Arts Award Journey where I review my Skill share. Thank you for taking the time to explore my arts journey. Lucas
